You can use a laptop as a monitor by connecting it to another device using software solutions like Miracast or remote desktop applications. However, connecting a laptop to an external monitor does not necessarily improve its performance, unless specific tasks benefit from the additional screen space. Using a laptop lift can help align your screen height with an external monitor for better ergonomics.
For further details, see our articles on making a laptop a monitor and the performance impact of using an external monitor with a laptop. If you're using a MacBook, we have a separate guide on connecting a MacBook to a monitor.
If the monitors are not connecting to the laptop, first ensure that the cables are securely plugged into both the laptop and the monitor. Check if the laptop's video output port (such as HDMI or VGA) matches the monitor's input port. If they are compatible, try updating the laptop's graphics drivers, as outdated drivers can cause compatibility issues. When setting up your workspace, using a riser for laptop can also help create a clean and efficient layout, especially when connecting multiple screens.
If the problem persists, try using a different cable or port on both the laptop and the monitor to rule out any hardware issues. For further assistance, refer to our article on connecting a laptop to an external monitor and why monitors may not connect to a laptop.

Yes, the Desky Adjustable Laptop Stand Riser folds away.
Yes. The open backing allows increased air circulation.
Amazing quality and looks amazing on my desk. It is very stable and has a bunch of adjustments. The only thing I'd say is that one of the rubber pieces that was glued came undone, and I had to glue it back on, but other than that it is an excellent stand.
I got the Deski Laptop Stand Riser to raise up my laptop screen to be level with my monitor. I found (1) my screens are easier to read and navigate across, and (2) the Deski stand is sturdy and well made. As a bonus, I've found more space on my desk without my laptop occupying valuable real estate! I'm very happy with it.
This stand is incredibly sturdy and well-made. The adjustable height options make it easy to find the perfect eye level, which has completely eliminated my neck and shoulder strain. It’s stable even with a 16-inch laptop, and the sleek design looks great on my desk. Highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their workspace ergonomics.
Very happy with the laptop riser for the few days a week I work from home. Great quality, sturdy and exactly what I was hoping for.
My wife broke her neck but luckily she has fully recovered. We spend a lot of time in our easy chairs with our laptops. She was getting a sore neck frequently. I researched a solution and found the Desky. PERFECT SOLUTION! It can adjust to your eye level easily and remain in that position. Perfect again. I now need one for myself. Thanks.

This is a great stand riser and I end up buying two stands for my laptop (one in my home office and work)
I ordered the laptop riser and the mobile phone/headphones stand at the same time. They were shipped together but only the phone/headphones stand arrived. Concerned, I contacted Desky as I could see 2 boxes were sent on tracking but only 1 arrived. Customer support looked into it immediately and said the 2nd box was still out. Next day, Desky contacted me to say they had contacted Couriers Please to raise concerns.
Day 3 Desky contacted me again to let me know Couriers Please had not responded and would be sending out another Laptop Riser to ensure I didn’t have to wait any further. I received it via a different carrier. Couriers Please package still missing but the fact that other than the initial contact I made with Desky, I never had to chase them up & they took initiative to continually follow up with me and send a replacement without me having to say anything more or stress, is something very rare these days.
Are both items great? YES!
But is their customer service even more amazing? ABSOLUTELY!!
Highly recommend Desky.
Very Sturdy and strong. Has rubber pads on the bottom and where the laptop sits which is a very nice touch.
Sturdy and high-quality laptop riser. It holds well and isn't flimsy like others I've used. It reaches a good height so my laptop screen can be aligned with my monitor, for good ergonomic positioning. Really glad I added this onto my Desky purchase, to complete my work-from-home setup.
This stand impressed me immediately out of the box. the tension holds the laptop and stays put! feels like a real high quality product.
There is a notch (finger recess) on the front of the stand to assist in opening the laptop lid. it was surprising to see that it wasn't carved out enough to accommodate my 2021 MacBook Pro.
easy to install and use
I am working from home and do video consultations, I can set my iPad and keyboard at the perfect height to avoid the Jabba the Hut look
